I haven't had time to process the information about the new changes to the referral system with the two strikes sending you to the back of the book, but having looked over the letter from Edwin Hill I can see that this change will cause a few waves, as well as the rules for termination or "discharge for cause."

With the new referral system, will
ReplyDeleteyou be sent to the back of the book
or rolled off?
The Hammer
Im pretty sure that you would roll off the book and have to resign. According to the letter from Pres. Hill, the problem is that there are books with 200 people on them and calls that go unfilled. I think the problem, however, is not how many people are on the books, but electricians not wanting to work for certain contractors. The 3 strikes clause would make it harder to refuse a call in the future. The details are still being worked out, but it sounds like it will become an inevitability
ReplyDeleteThis will make it difficult for someone to work out of town and remain on the book at home. Has there been any discussion about this?
ReplyDeleteThere would have to be some way for the hall to contact you when you were getting close to getting a call. To me it seems like a poor fix to the problem of people riding the books at home.
